It’s not every day that I get to photograph a wedding at a castle. 😉
Lauren and Evan were married one week ago on the gorgeous grounds of Charlevoix, Michigan’s Castle Farms. Although the rain gave us some challenges, the wedding was a beautiful testimant to love… and, the party was rockin’!!
The full gallery will be released very soon. In the meantime, please enjoy this selection of my favorites from the day- and don’t forget to leave some love for Evan and Lauren in the comments below! 😀
Bridal Hair/Makeup: Chello’s Salon, East Jordan, MI
Wedding/Reception Venue: Castle Farms, Charleviox, MI
Cake: Kingsley Cakes
Flowers: A Touch of Spring Florist
Catering: The Gray Gables Inn Resturant
Also, I have to give credit to my amazing photography assistant, Karissa. She made many of these shots possible with her help! 😀
The ladies at Chello’s Salon welcomed us in as we started the day…
I adored the details of Lauren’s outfit! Her gorgeous tiara was her mother’s at her own wedding- and the long veil was simply amazing.
The following shot was taken through the glass of the open window…
When we met at Castle Farms in beautiful Charlevoix, MI, the girls got ready as Lauren contemplated the rain. Would she be able to have that outdoor ceremony in the Knight’s Courtyard??
Lauren’s fairytale dress was just breathtaking!! Wait until you see her in it. 😀
With the help of wedding coordinator Johanna, the decision was made to move the ceremony inside. Thankfully, the awesome folks at Castle Farms arranged for the ceremony to take place in the gorgeous King’s Gallery!
After the ceremony, we lingered for a moment in front of the gorgeous light pouring through the large windows…
Meanwhile, the guests were headed just a short walk to the Knight’s Castle reception area.
This cake is so epic, it deserves to be seen in all it’s glory! Notice the words in the icing? Geekery at it’s finest!! You guys are awesome!
As the guests got settled, we took advantage of the wonderful grounds for some formal shots. Did I get rained on for these? Yup. Worth it? YUP. 😀
On to the party!!
The best man and bridesmaids gave lovely toasts for Lauren and Evan…
And in a very moving moment, Evan’s close friend who was unable to attend due to deployment had recorded a toast. It was a very special gift for Evan, who was completely suprised!
And speaking of lovely friends and family… take a look at these gorgeous people! ;D This was one of the most fun groups I’ve worked with yet!! You guys modeled like BOSSES. Awesome!
When these lovely ladies wanted a photograph with their mom, I had an idea….
Inside, the reception truly got started with the first dance and special dances!
And a cake cutting moment that totally cracks me up every time! 😀
As the rain slowed to a drizzle, we went out into the courtyard for a few shots…
And danced the night away!
By the way… if you have no idea what’s going on above, check this out! ;D
The rain may have made us change the plan a bit, but it also gave us an opportunity for amazing portraits! Lit with a softboxed flash in front and bare flash behind, these were my favorite shots of the night. The rain droplets are suspended in the air… gorgeous!
I had to include this slight of hand we got to witness before heading back into the reception…
At last, the night was over. The guests all assembled for the final song, gathering around the happy couple to say goodnight.
Lauren and Evan, you were (are!) rockstars. It was a privilege to play a part in your wedding day- and I wish the best for you, for life. <3
The full gallery will be up soon! In the meantime, please leave some love for the amazing couple in the comments below- and if you like my work, please help me get seen by sharing this post on FB or wherever you like! Thanks! 😀
